Maccabi Tel Aviv hopes today (Thursday) to take another step towards the appointment of Oded Katash as the team's coach.

The club estimated that today the last conditions of the coach will be closed, who will return for a second term after standing on the lines at the hall in the 2007/08 season.

"We assume that there will be no big surprises and that we can start sitting down already in the evening or during Friday on decisions that must be made regarding the situation of the players," the team said last night.

Aside from some disagreements over the financial issue and length of the contract, one of the questions that arises in conversations between the parties concerns the identity of the assistant coach.

Maccabi Tel Aviv are interested in adding a foreign assistant coach, while Katsch has named Yonatan Alon, the professional manager of Hapoel Galil Elyon, with whom he worked at Hapoel Jerusalem.

At this stage, no appeal has been made to Alon, but Maccabi Tel Aviv hopes to reach an agreement with Katsh on this issue.

Blatt will head a team that will include the team coach, sports director Nikola Vujicic, head scout Avi Even and his assistant Yair Shevach, and will help build the team and various professional questions and issues that arise before and during the season.

One of the first issues Blatt will have to consider soon is the issue of Scotty Wilbkin.
