Reds and Merengue supporters will be heard by the Senate next Tuesday. The general manager of UEFA is also summoned.

The investigation carried out by the Elders into the incidents at the Stade de France on the sidelines of the Champions League final on May 28 is continuing.

Liverpool and Real Madrid supporters are to be heard by the Senate next Tuesday from 4:30 p.m.

Football Supporters Europe (FSE) and two groups of Reds supporters, Spirit of Shankly and the Association of Disabled Supporters, have confirmed their attendance.

The participation of Real Madrid fans should be "confirmed quickly", the same source said.

In addition, a few hours earlier, Tuesday morning, the senators must hear two officials from UEFA, the European confederation which governs continental football: the general manager of UEFA Events, Martin Kallen, and the director of European affairs, Julien Zylberstein .

At the end of the afternoon, from 6 p.m., the PS mayor of Saint-Denis, Mathieu Hanotin, where the Stade de France is located, will be auditioned in turn.

Since June 1, the Senate's Law and Culture Committees have been hearing various officials, actors and witnesses to the Stade de France fiasco.

Scenes of chaos had punctuated this match, won by Real Madrid against Liverpool (1-0), notably causing the kick-off of the match to be delayed by more than 30 minutes.

The PS group in the Senate, chaired by former Sports Minister Patrick Kanner, deemed Wednesday "essential to hear the testimonies of representatives of Liverpool club supporters, but also those of Real Madrid".

“Many supporters have been victims of acts of delinquency” near the stadium, they “must be able to give their version of the facts”, believe the Socialist senators.

The chaotic evening damaged the image of France as an organizer of major sporting events two years before the Paris Olympics, and created a virulent controversy between France and Great Britain.
