Spaniard Rafael Nadal announced his intention to participate in the third (Wimbledon) World Tennis Championships, explaining that he made his decision to participate in the tournament due to the response of his left foot to treatment after training.
In a press conference held today in Mallorca, Spain, Nadal said, “I have the intention of playing in Wimbledon,” noting that the treatment and the last week of training indicate that there is an opportunity to play, as he will travel to London next Monday to participate first in an exhibition session in Harlingham.
Nadal trained on grass for the first time last Monday in Mallorca, in an effort to participate in the international tournament, which begins on the 27th of this month.
It is noteworthy that Nadal won this year the Australian Open (the first Grand Slam) and recently his fourteenth title in the French (Roland Garros) Championship (the second Grand Slam).
