The professional from PSV Eindhoven arouses the interest of a Champions League participant.

Eindhoven – Mario Götze has digested his sporting slack.

After quietly saying goodbye to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2020, the 2014 World Cup final goalscorer moved to PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, where he gradually took center stage.

Now the 30-year-old is receiving good offers again, and a Bundesliga club that will compete in the Champions League next season is also looking at the former Bundesliga professional.

Mario Götze appeared in a total of 231 games in the German upper house for BVB and FC Bayern and won a total of five championship titles.

Now the Allgäu could switch back to Germany, as reported by Bild, initial talks have already been held with the Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt.

Götze could soon appear for the Hessians.

Since the surprise team of the past season is automatically qualified for the coming Champions League season by winning the European competition, a corresponding squad must also be formed.

Götze was able to get a taste of international air in Eindhoven, but only in the Europa League and the newly introduced Conference League.

The fact that Eintracht competes with the best in Europe in the premier class could be decisive for a change.

For the tasks in the coming season, Frankfurt is looking for a midfielder for the tenth position, who has the playing strength and needs little adjustment time.

Götze fits the profile well, but his working paper at PSV runs until the end of June 2024. According to the report, Götze can be bought out of his remaining two years of contract for an exit clause of four million euros.

This should apply until July, so Eintracht still has time.

But the Frankfurters may have to get into a real poker game for Götze.

Only in the past week have there been reports of interest from Benfica Lisbon.

Roger Schmidt will take over as head coach there in the summer. The 55-year-old had previously worked in Eindhoven for two years and got Götze out of his career low.

Bundesliga return or a next adventure in Portugal - the offers for Götze are coming in again, now the family man has to decide which step is the right one for him.

The media attention, from which he seemed to flee after his second term in Dortmund, would probably be a little higher in Frankfurt.

Because of his goal in the 2014 World Cup final alone, he enjoys a special status in Germany, which, however, is also accompanied by a more critical observation of his person.
