For around 1000 athletes, the starting signal for a “usual” city triathlon in Erding finally falls again this Sunday.

Erding – After a slimmed-down Corona version last year, organizer Trisport Erding can again offer the triathlon competition this year with all distances.

People's and Olympic distances are on the program as well as relay races, and the state league is also making a stop in the ducal city again.

The Bavarian championships of the age groups are also held on the sprint distance.

Start is - as always - at the Kronthaler Weiher.

It starts with the little ones at 8.30 a.m.

The adults on the people's distance start swimming at 10 a.m., at 11.30 a.m. they start the Olympic distance with 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running.

At this point, the first athletes are already expected at the finish line at Schrannenplatz, and the finish line party can begin with drinks, a food truck and live commentary from Sport1 moderator Hartwig Thöne and former short-distance world champion Daniel Unger.

But the city triathlon in Erding wouldn't be the city triathlon if there wasn't something new for the triathletes.

Since the actual home stretch through the beautiful tower is closed for the Swedish games because the stage has already been set up, the runners have to accept a small detour – directly through the Swedish camp on the green market.

Certainly a unique experience that, if at all, could only happen again in a few years' time when the Swedish Games are next performed.

And shortly afterwards the long-awaited finish line at Schrannenplatz is waiting anyway - and ice-cold non-alcoholic beer from the main sponsor, which should probably taste twice as good given the expected temperatures.
