The World Swimming Championships opened today (Saturday) in Budapest, Hungary and will last eight days.
The senior swimmer of the Israeli delegation, Anastasia Gurbanko, advanced to the semifinals in the 200-meter medley as expected, finishing in first place with a time of 2: 10.23 minutes - the third best time in all the qualifiers.
Leah Polonsky, who competed at the same end of Gurbanko, came in sixth place with 2: 13.26 minutes, which was 13 hundredths of a time ahead of the finalist in the semi-finals and she finished her way in the competition in a slightly cruel way.

The 18-year-old Gorbanko will compete in the semi-finals in the 2000 mixed meters starting at 20:00, with the final scheduled to take place about half an hour later.
Later in the day, Bar Soloveitchik (400 meters freestyle), Miron Heruti (50 butterfly), Chris Pichogin (100 breaststroke), Ron Polonsky (400 personal medley) and the two men's and women's 4X100 relays will also compete.
