Leonardo suspended a match, Al-Khelaïfi released… Three months after the events, UEFA finally sanctioned the ex-sporting director of PSG Leonardo with a match suspension for his attitude towards the referees on March 9 at the end of the knockout round of the Champions League against Real Madrid (3-1) at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
For his part, the president of the capital club Nasser Al-Khelaïfi was not sanctioned.
During this infamous evening, in the context of the sudden elimination of the Parisian club, the European body had opened a disciplinary case against Leonardo and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the two Parisian leaders being suspected of having had violent behavior towards the referees after the elimination of PSG.
At the end of the game, Leonardo and Al-Khelaïfi, according to the Spanish newspaper Marca based on the referee's report, were violent and tried to break into the referees' locker room.
Also according to Marca, the two leaders blocked the door of the said locker room, Al-Khelaïfi breaking the flag of one of the referees.
On arrival, only Leonardo is sanctioned with a suspension match for having "violated the elementary rules of decent conduct" and "unbearable conduct".
Sanction which the Brazilian will pay in a club other than PSG, after his departure was recorded on May 21, after the victory over Metz at the Parc des Princes (5-0), during the 38th and last day of the season.
UEFA did not give details about the release of Al-Khelaïfi.
