Real Madrid's win of the championship was not the only big event tonight (Sunday) in Spain.
Girona returned after a decade and a half to the first division and more than that - Mark Gasol, the owner of the team, who returned to play for the club during the season and took it to the great achievement - completes a story from the legends.
Gasol did not start the season with a team that was at the bottom of the second division.
Since arriving, the team has changed direction and tonight completed the ascent with a 60:66 victory over Estudiantes.
Gasol was in doubt for the game due to injury, but played nonetheless, scoring 11 points and taking 8 rebounds en route to the big achievement.
The second team to advance to the first division is Grande.

Gasol, 37, retired this summer from the NBA after a great career of 13 seasons including one championship in the LA Lakers uniform.
His decision to return to European basketball was very unconventional.
Instead of returning to the high levels of the Euroleague, he decided to play in the second league in his homeland, Girona, which he owns.
Gasol spent two big years on the team, which propelled him to an NBA career and he returned to bring the club back to the main stage, after years in which he went through a difficult crisis and was relegated to the lower leagues.
