VfR Garching: Coach Nico Basta relies on his brother

Losing regular staff to a manageable extent and compensating for this with exciting additions: That is the situation at the Bayern league football club VfR Garching.

– For the first time, the young football coach Nico Basta (30) is planning his Bayern league squad, and that was an ambitious task given the very limited possibilities of VfR Garching.

The trainer-manager of the Bavarian league managed to lose only a manageable amount of regular staff and to compensate for this with exciting additions.

The move by young striker Alekzandar Sinabov to TSV Buchbach is painful but logical.

Nico Basta thinks highly of the attacker and trusts him to take the next step from the regional league to professional football.

Rather surprising was the farewell to Martin Schön, who only really arrived in Garching in the second half of the season and then also scored important goals.

He now assumes responsibility at TSV Dachau 65 as a playing assistant coach.

Wandervogel Ari Kelmendi also moves to the Dachauern, where his brother Lirim kicks.

Other departures include Matthew Loo (TSV Rain), Kubilay Celik (probably Eintracht Karlsfeld), Dominic Dachs (FC Moosinning), Nam Nguyen and Bryan Stubhan (both destination unknown).

Tino Reich, who will soon be completing a trial at Greuther Fürth, could also come along.

Riccardo Basta becomes acting assistant coach

The king transfer from Garching was already on the sidelines last season.

Riccardo Basta is the brother and assistant coach of head coach Nico Basta.

He now becomes the playing assistant coach and can play many positions in the center, so massively strengthen the VfR.

The former FC Bayern player was a big number in the second team there, got a taste of the pros and was then stopped by injuries.

Most recently, Basta played for TSV Sauerlach and was always one of the best in training games in Garching.

In the future, Maximilian Retzer will duel in goal with Fabio Rasic, who comes from neighboring FC Ismaning.

Other additions are Robert Rohrhirsch (SE Freising, midfield), Marc Sodji (own U19s, midfield), Matija Milic (TuS Wolfratshausen, winger), Moritz Kiener (FC Ismaning, winger) and striker Roman Gertsmann (FC Alte Haide Munich).

With what is probably the smallest budget of all Bavarian leagues, the Garching team are also forced to remain true to their line of developing young talents.

In the pre-season preparations - in a first friendly, VfR lost 4-0 (3-0) against the regional league team TSV Rain/Lech - Nico Basta also includes several players from the second team and his own U19s to see who will be in the Bayernliga in the future could play.

Roman Gertsmann has ambitious goals

A rather exciting personality is Roman Gertsmann, who was always active in the lower division and scored 19 goals in 25 games for the district league team Alte Haide last season.

The attacker has never played in the Bayernliga and would like to try the step up again in the autumn of his career, shortly before reaching the age of 30.

In the Garching team, some players are quite convinced that the classic center forward can make it big in the new season.

With the current arrivals and departures, the squad is now largely in place.

Despite the difficult conditions, Nico Basta managed to do something that was different in Garching recently.

The squad is in place at the start of training – now only fine-tuning is required until the end of the transfer window.
