These six girls have more than one triathlon behind them: Katharina Wurzer, Lisa Paulus, Kathi Joos, Johanna Haub, Lilly-Sophie Abel, Philomena Schönfelder and Magdalena Wurzer (from left) not only took part in the triathlon.

The sextet helped with the set-up the day before and was in top form again after their own competition when it was time to hand over the sponsor's wheat beer glass to the finishers.

Around 1000 participants defy the high temperatures and offer great sport.

Organizer Trisport received a lot of praise.

Erding

– Even the small mishap could not stop Fabian Schaffert.

"When I jumped into the water, my glasses slipped down," says the Fürstenfeldbruck native.

He wasn't the only one this happened to that day.

No wonder, with almost 1000 starters (including two over 75 participants), who made the Erdinger city triathlon a huge success again.

Starters and spectators alike praised the organization by organizer Trisport Erding.

World Champion Daniel Unger, who moderated the event together with Hartwig Thöne and enthused about the weather conditions, was very enthusiastic.

"This is an excellent day for the maiden flight," he encouraged all newcomers.

The 24 degrees in the water was also great for Schaffert, who was mentioned at the beginning.

"It's almost like in a swimming pool, perfect," he enthused.

His glasses faux pas was quickly no longer an issue on the following 750 meters in the Kronthaler Weiher.

The 28-year-old came out of the water in ninth place, then rode an average of 45 for the following 20 kilometers by bike and set the best time, which put him in second place.

It was a five kilometer walk.

"The pace wasn't too fast, I could keep up with that," he said afterwards.

And how he could.

At the turning point, the Bayernliga starter had already gained a 20-second lead, which he extended to 31 by the time he finished.

Now he is Bavarian triathlon champion on the sprint distance.

Not bad for someone who sees the Erdinger competition as a preparatory test for Frankfurt.

There he wants to qualify for Hawaii, said the mechatronics engineer.

Frankfurt, Hawaii - and before that Erding?

"I really like being here," said Brucker.

Everything fits here.

Or as Margrit Elfers put it: “A really nice small-town Bavarian triathlon, perfectly organized and with lots of friendly people cheering you on.” The woman from Bamberg won the sprint in the women's class.

After eight weeks of training break due to injury, their tactic was "full throttle to the end".

She got out of the water in fourth place, and the 28-year-old was already in front after cycling.

The last two kilometers of running were "really hard".

She could even have taken her time, because the runner-up finished two minutes later.

But Elfers also tested their limits.

Her plan: via a competition in Ireland then to Hawaii.

Adam Ahmed is not that far yet.

He was just happy to have survived the national triathlon.

"The headwind on the bike course scratched my mentality a bit, but I got through it," said the 17-year-old from Erding, overjoyed.

Yannis Schönfelder is one year younger.

For a long time the Erdinger could even dream of winning the people's distance, but was then trumped by a starter from a later group.

The high school student (10th grade at the Korbinian-Aigner-Gymnasium) won his age group, as did Jonas Toldy, although he also had problems with his glasses at the beginning.

"But then the swimming went as I had imagined," said Schönfelder.

Cycling is his domain anyway.

When I was running, it "had a good bang on my head," he said.

With Thomas Ott, on the other hand, the batteries apparently only fill up when it's really hot.

The 22-year-old, who has been a member of the Erdinger Non-Alcoholic team since January, won the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling, 10 km running) on Sunday.

He has finished second four times on this route.

"That's why the win is even nicer now," he said.

After swimming, he was 67 seconds behind Hannes Butters.

Now mental work is also required, he reported.

"I persuaded myself: there's still something going on when cycling." In fact, he saw the rear wheel at least halfway through.

"That's when I knew: "If Hannes doesn't have a great day, there's something in it." The changes also worked, and then Ott set his best time of 34:04 minutes that has ever been measured for him.

At the finish line, the student waited for his teammate.

Butters also launches non-alcoholic for Erdinger.

The subsequent beer shower wasn't a surprise, but at least it was a nice way to cool down for a brief moment.

Nina Koller, on the other hand, left the beer in the tankard and beamed.

The student from Bad Reichenhall celebrated a start-finish victory in Erding.

It was men's slalom at first, she said with a laugh and described how she left one swimmer after the other behind.

"You look like you could easily run another lap," said moderator Thöne at the finish line.

That would have been a bit too much.

After all, the 24-year-old started the day before at Rothsee in the 2nd division.

Still, there was no sign of tiredness.

On the contrary: “The track is cool and also very shady.

That was important today.

And that's really well raised.” Sounds like Koller is coming back.

And Schaffert, Elfers or Ott.

And all Erdingers anyway.

Because after the 28th city triathlon is before the 29th

A burst water pipe and unexpected showers – what else happened at the Erdinger City Riathlon

Neoprene ban:

Only participants over 60 had a free choice.

All other starters had to do without the wetsuit.

The triathlon association prescribes this from a water temperature of 22 degrees, explained a judge.

Compression socks are then also prohibited.

The Kronthaler Weiher was 24 degrees warm on Sunday.

"Electronic doping":

That's what moderator Hartwig Thöne called a request as to whether e-bikes were also allowed.

The fun factor:

who enjoys the triathlon the most?

World champion Daniel Unger described it like this: "The children always come out of the water with a smile, the adults with a stern facial expression." Later he said that among the women there were "many smilers and winkers".

The day before:

The participants coped with the heat quite well.

According to Trisport spokeswoman Caroline Cornfine, no athlete collapsed.

There were only failures due to technical problems such as bicycle breakdowns.

The conditions were almost worse the day before, when the 150 helpers and 15 department heads set up the competition site.

The heat:

strenuous yes, but the Erding city triathlon had much more difficult conditions, as Sirko Papperitz said.

Once it hailed so badly on the bike course that the chief of police wanted to cancel the event.

"Actually," says Papperitz, "we've had every type of weather except snow."

A burst water pipe

at the Rätschenbach occupied the organizers on the day of set-up.

According to Simone Blumoser, the problem was solved with many helpers – including those from the fire brigade.

"

Extremely supported"

, says Simone Blumoser, was Trisport Erding this year both from the city and its building yard, as well as from Stadtwerke Erding.

"It used to be good, but this year it's great.

No matter what we needed, such as an additional water point, it was implemented immediately.” This also applies to Erdinger Weißbräu.

The partnership with the municipality and sponsor has existed for a long time, "but it's also a question of how you live it".

The togetherness grew more and more.

Blumoser: "This reliability is priceless."

Unexpected shower:

Trisport is also happy to accept private help.

Impressed by the runners, a spectator spontaneously made a hydraulic syringe available - much to the delight of the athletes, who from then on were revived by a cool shower, said Cornfine.
