The coach of the Russian artistic gymnastics team, Irina Wiener Osmanova, who is considered a legend in her country, says that the sisters Avrina and Linoy Ashram have been in touch and have been in love with each other lately, despite the tensions between them after the Tokyo Olympics.

As you may recall, Ashram won the gold medal in Tokyo last summer, in a decision that provoked great outrage in Russia and claims that the verdict was biased and discriminated against Dina and Arina Avrina.

In an interview with her, Osmanova argued that sport should be a bridge between nations, and be detached from politics.

On the other hand, she said Russia needs to step up its sporting cooperation with China and can even help its ally achieve success in events where Russian athletes find themselves banned.

As is well known, Russia's artistic gymnastics stars are now suspended from world competitions following the suspension imposed by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) in March, following Russia's declaration of war on Ukraine.

This is the reason why Russia and Belarus did not participate in the European Championships held this weekend in Israel, which may have improved the chances of the Israeli delegation winning medals.

Dina Avrina, who has won 18 medals at world championships, and her twin sister Arena will be absent from the world championships to be held in Bulgaria in September 2022.

"We have 600 competitive events planned between Russia and China this year. Our mission is to connect with China as closely as possible. Only in sports, "said Wiener-Osmanova," they are very strong in artistic gymnastics ... we will definitely work together and learn from each other. They are like us, and we are like them. A country very much promises us, especially now. We will compete and move forward. "

Wiener-Osmanova added that although Russian athletes' participation in competitions was banned, stars from Russia such as the Avrina twins for example were not completely boycotted by their international rivals.

"As President Putin said, we have no enemy states, we can not have unfriendly athletes," Wiener-Osmanova said. "One day athletes will understand that. Even those who are angry and make some attacks against us

Ashram supported them, which is why it also received unflattering reviews in the country.

Bulgarian athletes also write very friendly messages. "
