After 26 years: Israel returns to host ATP tournament Israel today

2022-06-21T12:30:00.053Z

The big project, led by the chairman of the Tennis Association, Avi Peretz, is expected to take place at the end of September at the "Expo" hall in Tel Aviv, after the Davis' meeting with the Czech Republic.

The "Expo" hall in Tel Aviv has known beautiful moments in Israeli sports in recent years, such as the European Judo Championships in 2018 and the successful European Championships in artistic gymnastics last week, where the athletes in blue and white came out with no less than 12 medals.

And here today (Tuesday), we got one more event, when no less and no more the ATP round will return to Israel after many years, when it is expected to take place at the end of September.

The Israeli union, led by chairman Avi Peretz, has been working on the project for a long time to help the Israeli public lead the Israeli tennis players to achievements and make them rise in the rankings, but it is currently claimed that the official ATP approval for the event has not yet arrived.

It should be remembered that just before the planned tournament, another major tennis event is expected in Israel, when the Israeli team will host the Czech national team as part of the Davis Cup World Cup 1 at the Shlomo Group Hall on September 16 and 17.

The Tennis Association chose to continue hosting the team's games in a closed hall after the success in the last meeting against South Africa that took place in Ashdod and due to the desire to relieve the spectators from the hot summer days and the scorching sun.

In the end, after examining a number of alternatives, it was decided that Tel Aviv would be the host city of the meeting.
