Placzyk, the Israeli Olympic medalist and former European champion, is about to participate in the Grand Slam in Mongolia.

In a photo shared on Facebook and Twitter he was photographed next to a homeless man, chatting with him and giving him his shirt.

"An Israeli deserves a lot of respect, who is about to participate in the tournament here," wrote one of the surfers, who tagged Plachik.

And Placzyk responded: "The picture has gone viral in the media in Mongolia, and I got a lot of comments about this move of mine, I just want to say thank you to all the Mongolian people ... I did not think anyone saw me and photographed me. I helped the poor man, because that's how I was raised."
