The hero on duty.

A terrifying incident occurred last week at TBL, the U.S. Second Division Basketball League, when during a Toledo Glass City game in New York, the game’s referee, 61-year-old John Scully, suddenly collapsed on the floor.

In a video circulated on the networks, Scully is seen falling abruptly and actually having a heart attack in the middle of the game.

With extraordinary composure, Toledo's player, Miles Copeland, jumped in and performed the resuscitation that saved his life.

Luckily, Copeland is not only a basketball player, but also a firefighter at Toledo Station, Ohio.

"Scully has already left us, he has changed colors," said David Magley, president of the basketball league who witnessed the whole thing.

"Miles came running off the field and started performing CPR on him, and I look and think to myself - who is this guy, where did he come from? Then I noticed he had a uniform and realized it was one of our players. Miles said, 'It's okay, I'm a firefighter.'

"I assessed the situation, tried to see what I could do to solve the problem," Copeland said.

"He had no pulse, he was not breathing so I immediately started resuscitating, filth I was trained to do in situations like this. It was kind of a heavenly timing that I was there, in the right place at the right time."
