Georg Schwarz died at the age of 72.

An obituary for an official who made SE Freising what it is today.

Freising

– He was a doer, a man who lived for SE Freising: Georg "Schorsch" Schwarz died on Saturday at the age of 72.

Not only "a very big loss for the SEF in terms of club history", says the long-time chairman and department head Georg Appel, describing the mood of the companions of the Freising football veteran.

Schwarz, along with his brother Matthäus, was one of the fathers of the merger with the sports club on the Eintracht side.

Together with Erwin Lanzendorfer and Anton Kratzl from SC, they campaigned for a bundling of forces.

The reason for this tireless commitment to the merger of the two long-standing opponents was that Schwarz and his comrades-in-arms did not want to accept that in a city like Freising football was bobbing along in the lower leagues.

By 1998 at the latest, it was clear to everyone that the merger was bearing fruit.

In 1996, the two clubs finally merged under the name "Sportclub Eintracht Freising", SEF for short, and thanks to some ingenious decisions made their way up to the state league.

On the one hand, Sepp Summerer was engaged as a trainer, on the other hand, Hans Pflügler, a native of Freising, a world champion from 1990, joined the SEF team for several years.

Even in the youth sector, which Georg Schwarz had already promoted as a coach and youth leader at Eintracht, the club was considered a top address in the Freising district for decades after the merger and was represented in Bavaria's highest youth classes.

Even after his active career, he remained loyal to his club

Schorsch Schwarz himself came to Eintracht when he was a child, played in his youth and then in the first team.

He was fast and good at dribbling and distributed the balls as the heart of his team.

Former teammates describe him as a good, hard-working footballer who also had an offer from SC Freising for the state league, but this failed due to the intervention of Schwarz senior.

Already at the age of 28, Schorsch had to hang up his football boots due to an injury.

However, he remained loyal to the club, was involved as a youth coach, youth leader, department head and from 1989 to 1999 as chairman.

Georg Appel still remembers well that Schorsch always came to the Thursday meetings with a handwritten note full of urgent tasks to bring the club forward.

Georg Schwarz also crossed his fingers for another club

The SEF was more than just a pastime for Schwarz, it was a passion for him.

They also supported his wife Veronika and his son Andreas to the best of their ability.

In addition to the SEF, Schorsch also kept his fingers crossed for TSV 1860.

Professionally, he worked as a printer at the Datterer printing company, later at Sellier Druck and the Appl Group.

Georg Schwarz was also committed to his colleagues there and was chairman of the works council for many years.

Apart from work and club, there was little free time.

The Schorsch liked to spend it in a sociable round, even if he could only rarely win at Schafkopf.

For his services he was made an honorary member and later honorary chairman at the 70th anniversary celebrations.

According to SEF boss Walter Zellner, the death of Georg Schwarz, the father of the Eintracht Freising sports club, plunges the club into deep mourning.
