In preparation for the big month of athletics in Jerusalem, the renewed athletics stadium in Givat Ram was inaugurated tonight (Wednesday), in which tens of millions of shekels were invested.
Among other things, new stands and a track were erected.
The first competition that will take place there will be on the first Sunday, with the 86th Israeli Championship.
In fact the national championship, will be the premiere competition in the stadium and also a preparatory competition for the main event of the summer.
The best athletes in the country will perform at the Israeli Championships, and after 18 years the championship will return to the capital.
The main event of the summer in terms of athletics is the European Under-18 Championship which will take place on July 4-7.
47 countries and over a thousand athletes from all over Europe will reach the largest athletics competition ever seen in Israel.
This is a unique opportunity to see the athletes who in a few years will surpass the podiums in every major competition in the world.
Beyond that, the organizers promise attractions for the whole family in the place and this will be a great start to the great freedom.
For those who missed both events this Jerusalem summer, athletics will close with the Maccabiah.
The best Israeli athletes and the best Jewish athletes in the world are expected to attend the competition.
The Maccabiah competitions will be held on July 19/20.
