And three: after gold in the 400m medley and silver in the 200m butterfly, Léon Marchand won another medal at the World Championships in Budapest on June 22.
And what a medal!
Gold, again.
The Frenchman, only 20 years old, won the final of the 200m medley in 1′55′'22 (new French record).
Léon Marchand the only French swimmer to have won three medals in the same world championship.
Only Catherine Plewinski and Laure Manaudou before him have won 3 or more medals in the same edition.
Since 2007, Manaudou was also the only one to have won two titles at the same World Cup.
What a day for French swimming, a historic day: earlier in the evening, Maxime Grousset had taken second place in the 100m freestyle and Analia Pigrée took third place in the 50m backstroke.
