Timo Sticha, one of Austria's best striker talents, joins the Tölzer Löwen.

Contract also for Anton Engel.

Bad Tölz – It's all in the mix.

Ralph Bader is convinced of a successful combination of experienced players and young guns in the Oberliga team of the Tölzer Löwen.

Timo Sticha definitely belongs to the latter faction: The Austrian with a German passport is just 17 years old and will play for the Buam next season.

Löwen boss Ralph is convinced of his qualities: "He is a huge talent, despite his young age, he has already played professional ice hockey for a year, was the second best scorer, that is impressive." Anton Engel has also been given a new contract for the coming season .

17-year-old Timo Sticha has potential

Sticha comes from the old and rediscovered ice hockey stronghold of Feldkirch in Austria.

The Tölz coach Ryan Foster knows the youngster from the national team and warmly recommended him.

After other clubs also expressed strong interest, Bader quickly got down to business, brought in Sticha and his ice hockey-loving family and signed the 17-year-old.

"Timo is one of the three best strikers in the Alpine Republic in his year," says Bader.

"When we found out that he wanted to go this route and that he had a German passport, everything was clear." Sticha played in the first team in Feldkirch last season, was a regular player there and collected almost 20 points.

"We can be proud that he has chosen the Tölzer Löwen," says the TEG Managing Director.

Sticha comes from a family that loves ice hockey

Father Thomas Sticha was part of the legendary team that brought the European Cup to Feldkirch in the 1990s.

Brother Dennis plays in Linz.

"I always wanted to go to Germany, that was my goal.

I just feel like being away from home and accepting the challenge of Tölz.

My visit here and the talks with Ryan Foster and Ralph Bader immediately convinced me,” says the 17-year-old.

"Tölz has a great tradition, I know that I will quickly feel at home here," says Sticha.

Maybe one pass too many

Löwen coach Foster is also happy about the new signing: "Timo has talent, a lot of potential and he knows what he wants from a young age.

He will already play a good role in our team."

He is already good technically and in terms of running, but still needs to improve in goal closure, as he himself admits, according to Bader.

At the moment he might be playing one pass too many.

"But if he puts the goal on his teammate, that's enough," says Bader and grins.

Sticha comes from the offspring of VEU Feldkirch and was on the ice 37 times for the first team in the Alps Hockey League last season.

He was also in action for the Austrian U18 national team at the B World Cup.

Anton Engel was also committed.

The 19-year-old striker moved to Tölz in 2017 and went through the junior teams at ECT.

Last season he played 26 games in the DEL 2 in the first team, scoring two goals.

He was also on the ice for the U20s in DNL 2 and is scheduled to attack the Oberliga team in the new season.
