The tournaments that women's football witnessed last season, specifically the league and cup championships, constituted a good start for the women's category in the most popular game, and before the start of the new football season, the Football Association is preparing to expand its activities and participation.
SANA met the official of the female section of the Football Association, Maha Katrib, who said, “We have started working on activating the game for the women’s category since 2019 by organizing the Women’s League. The clubs faced, as our activities expanded after they were limited to the league only.”
Katrib added: We are working on preparing referees and coaches through continuous qualifying courses, which will reflect on the development of the technical level of the championships, in conjunction with a strategy that has been developed to spread the game within the female category, which will form a larger base for it. Young women and girls for the first time, after three years of work, we are able to rely on these groups to hold their championships.
Regarding the foreign participations, Katrib explained: Our team participated in the West Asian Women’s Championship, during which it won the third place, after good preparations, and it is a successful participation after a long hiatus, and we seek to secure
External participations of our team within the capabilities available during this year.
Katrib concluded her speech by saying: We have come through a good stage of working in female football, but until our team reaches the required technical level through which it is able to compete strongly in foreign tournaments, especially with the development of the game in neighboring countries within the female category, we need more preparation and preparation through continuity in Local tournaments and their expansion in the coming years, which will give the players more experience, expressing their confidence in the national cadres to bring our players and teams to the desired level.
It is noteworthy that Katrib was recently appointed as an assistant coach for the Syrian women's national team, which will participate in the West Asian Championship on August 29th.
