Pini Gershon: "Blatt can help Maccabi Tel Aviv" | Israel Today

The largest international conference in the history of the Israeli Basketball and Basketball Association closed today (Thursday) after two intensive days in which more than 200 coaches from Israel and around the world participated in a series of lectures and trainings by the best coaches in Israel and Europe.

The conference, held in collaboration with FIBA ​​and held at a hotel in Moshav Regba, was attended by more than 150 coaches from Israel as well as several dozen coaches from many countries, including coaches from Morocco, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Turkey, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Germany and other countries.

Senior lecturers included Germany national team coach Gordon Herbert, Michael Schwartz, who is responsible for the development of young players at the FIBA, Prof. Marco Stoinevic, Serbia national team physical education coach, veteran and esteemed Italian coach Emanuel "Lela" Moulin, Austrian Martin Schiller from Austria. Of Zalgiris Kaunas, Oren Aharoni, coach of Bnei Herzliya and the reserve team, Arik Shibek, coach of the academy of the Dutch Basketball Association and technical director of the youth teams in the country as well as Sharon Drucker, coach of the women's team and Hapoel Haifa. The conference was organized by Dr. Itzik Ben Melech, Responsible for training on behalf of the Basketball Association.

Pini Gershon, the professional director of the Israeli national team, concluded the conference: "There was not much training with such a level of lecturers and such a large number of participants. There was an amazing demand and that means the training force in Israel wants to advance "We have a good reputation in Europe and appreciate what we do in the young teams, so 25 foreign coaches came to the training, all of whom coach in the unions in their countries. They came to see what we do and learn from the lecturers who came."

Gershon also referred to the appointment of David Blatt as chairman of the professional committee of Maccabi Tel Aviv: "David is a coach with a lot of knowledge and connections and I am sure he can help Maccabi."
