While Vladan Ivic's second term at Maccabi Tel Aviv has already begun, the two coaches who coached her last season have not yet found a new team.

While Melan Krastajic is still in the market for free coaches, it seems that his predecessor, Patrick Van Leven, is on the safe path to his first coaching job since leaving Kiryat Shalom.

Journalist Igor Tsyganik reported that the Dutchman will be appointed coach of Ukrainian Zoria Luhansk, thus returning to the country where he previously worked at Shakhtar Donetsk's academy.

As is known, the last season in the Ukrainian league was stopped following the Russian invasion and the outbreak of war in February, but although the fighting is still in full swing, the new season in the league is expected to open as a series.

While many foreigners, like Manor Solomon who is due to sign at Fulham, are leaving the Ukrainian teams one after the other, Van Leven may become the first foreigner to arrive in a war-torn country.

Van Leven was one of a number of candidates for the position, and after a conversation with the club president, it seems that ex-Maccabi Tel Aviv will be the one to step into the shoes of Victor Skripnik, who moved to another team in the senior league - Verskala.

As you may recall, the Dutchman who worked in the youth department of Maccabi Tel Aviv went down to the lines after the dismissal of Georgios Donis in the 2020/21 season, and although he lifted the state cup with the Yellows, he failed to win a third consecutive championship.

Last season Van Leven led the team to the Conference League playoffs, but the fact that the team recorded a series of bad results in the domestic league and was not a factor in the championship fight led to his dismissal in October.
