The C youth handball players at HSG Freising-Neufahrn also want to rock the “qualification final at home” on Saturday and make it into the state league.

Freising

– The male C youth handball players at HSG Freising-Neufahrn have had a great journey so far in qualifying for the coming season: the leap into the state league is only one step away.

In the first two rounds, they each took second place and thus made it into the "Finale dahoam".

This takes place on Saturday in the Luitpoldsporthalle.

HSG supervisor Denis Osemanga is delighted with the success of his boys: "We haven't got that far in this age group for a long time.

The whole thing is above all thanks to our coach Tawfique Ossessegbe.” He is just 19 years old, and before he switched to the Bayernliga team in Anzing he played at HSG up to the B youth level.

Osemanga: "He's always been happy to help here and that's why he took over the team last year." With the boys and assistant coach Harald Teschner, he managed third place in the ÜBOL last season and therefore started with a lot of optimism the qualification.

Exciting way into the third qualifying round

It got really exciting in the first round, which was held in Neufahrn.

Everyone at HSG had predicted that TSV Trudering would ultimately prevail here.

Freising-Neufahrn also lost 10:19 against the Bayern division.

The boys didn't let that deter them and showed pure nerves of steel against TSV Gilching: Elias Düvel ensured the 22:21 lead 15 seconds before the final whistle, but Gilching was awarded a penalty.

However, the opponent missed this chance – and with that the victory was perfect.

The last game against TSV Allach 09 II was no less close, in the end the 14:14 draw was enough for second place.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

In the second round of the tournament there was a 19:15 win against host TV Bad Tölz and a 17:26 defeat against top team TSV Ottobeuren.

That was enough to progress, so the cheering was correspondingly large.

Strong defense, strong attack

What makes the team?

Osemanga emphasizes that all players on the field are extremely dangerous in attack.

"No one stands out, we're a strong team." The coaches see goalkeeper Frederick Baier as their greatest talent.

So far he has excelled in qualifying - the HSG Freising-Neufahrn should still have a lot of fun with him.

The keeper can rely on a good defense.

Their great strengths are intercepting the ball and switching games.

The final qualifying round will now take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. in the sports hall of the Luitpoldanlage.

It's against SV Anzing, TSV Neusäß and SG Süd/Blumenau.

The expectations are high, says Denis Osemanga: "We definitely hope to make the leap into the national league." In the worst case, the HSG youth comes into the ÜBOL.

"It would be a shame for us, but of course it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Then we want to be champions there.”
