At the 20th "Meet-IN" in Ingolstadt, the participants also had to be heat-resistant.

It was the athletes from Penzberg, because they consistently delivered strong performances.

Ingolstadt – With over 450 starts, the 20th edition of the “Meet-IN” in Ingolstadt saw participation close to a record.

Several athletes from the district also stood out in the well-filled field.

Lucas Herbeck provided the highlight from the point of view of TSV Penzberg.

The 22-year-old won the 1500-meter race in Ingolstadt - "surprisingly", as the TSV website says.

Over the unusually short distance, the 22-year-old from Penzberg beat a total of 24 other competitors with a personal best of 4:02.30 minutes.

Herbeck showed a strong finish.

Actually, the final sprint is not one of the student's strengths, but in Ingolstadt he didn't let anyone pass him on the home straight.

"Lucas did really well," said trainer Melanie Jäger, praising her protégé, who had taken the lead after 800 meters.

"At 67 seconds, the second lap was significantly slower than the first lap, which we ran in 64 seconds," reported Herbeck.

When he took the lead, he increased the pace and was able to carve out a minimal lead of two meters.

This small gap existed until 150 meters before the finish line, when Jan Halberstat (LG Stadtwerke München), Kilian Schwarzsteiner (SWC Regensburg) and Johannes Weizinger (Arriba Göppersdorf) caught up from behind.

But when the three athletes wanted to overtake, Herbeck held back.

At the finish, the four runners were separated by just 0.24 seconds.

A few weeks ago, Halberstát won a race in the local district: with his club colleague Felix Luckner, he took first place in the 26th Obersöchering hourly team run.

Sprinter Raffieu Johnson wins over 100 meters

TSV athlete Raffieu Deen Johnson was in action on the short sprint distances in Ingolstadt.

The man from Penzberg fought an exciting duel over 100 meters with Advait Nair (LG Telis Finanz Regensburg).

Johnson won the final in 10.74 seconds ahead of his rival (10.83).

René Zapel (11.02) from LG Main-Spessart was third.

For Johnson, it was the third fastest time of his career after the 10.72 seconds and 10.70 seconds he recently ran in Munich.

Over the 200 meters, the man from Penzberg stayed "somewhat above his expectations" with 21.90 seconds, according to the TSV.

In the final billing, he took second place with Samuel Werdecker (LG Stadtwerke München) at the same time.

The clear winner was Vincente Graiani (LG Stadtwerke München), who was clearly ahead of Johnson this time with 21.43 seconds.

A week earlier in the Dante Stadium, the Penzberger had prevailed against his Munich competitor.

The Bavarian championship titles were determined in the youth obstacle courses (U16 to U20) at the “Meet-IN”.

According to the Bavarian Athletics Association, the number of entries left a lot to be desired.

However, the winning times were worthy of all honor.

Not unexpectedly, the U20 Julia Rath (LAC Quelle Fürth) ran towards a clear victory over the 2000 meter obstacle course.

Julia Rath clearly wins the U20 ranking

With 6:48.38 minutes she was well ahead of the competition.

According to the BLV's website, the time "can be seen in a national context".

To put this in context: With her best time of the season so far of 6:47.20 minutes (run this year in Pliezhausen at the beginning of May), Rath is currently in third place in the DLV best list.

Hanna Ackermann convinces in the steeplechase

Hanna Ackermann won the bronze medal in the U20 class.

The 17-year-old used to start for TSV Penzberg and has been running for LG Telis Finanz Regensburg since 2021.

To date, Ackermann had primarily appeared as a hurdle sprinter.

In Ingolstadt she made her debut over the 2000 meter obstacle course.

With 7:18.05 minutes, she presented herself "above all expectations", according to the LG, and also undercut the norm for the German youth championship.

Maximilian Rath, Julia Rath's younger brother, also competed in Ingolstadt.

In the 800-meter race, the Penzberger (born 2009), wearing the LG Oberland jersey, was by far the youngest athlete and finished tenth with a time of 2:17.31 minutes.

Former European Cup winner Timo Benitz (LG Farbtex Nordschwarzwald) won in a superior manner in 1:51.48 minutes.

Benitz is aiming for a top place in the 1500 meters at the DM in Berlin next weekend.
