Andrea Puentes, who saved Anita Alvarez's life, could not hold back tears at the end of the competition, in which the Americans finished in ninth place • In the US they claimed that the World Swimming Association prevented Alvarez's participation, even though she was found healthy

Two days after the drowning drama of the USA teammate, Anita Alvarez, at the World Figure Skating Championships in Budapest, the final of the freestyle exercise took place today (Friday), which the Americans finished in ninth place, one place ahead of Israel.

The U.S. scored a score of 87.4667 points, and garnered huge applause from the crowd as coach Andrea Puentes, who saved Alvarez, joined the stage and could not hold back the tears from excitement.

"Before the finals, we informed the American delegation that Alvarez would not take part in the team competition, even though she is healthy, because the World Swimming Federation (FINA) does not allow her to participate due to 'concerns for athletic health'."

"Anita is healthy and has undergone extensive tests by medical staff," the U.S. team clarified, "She feels good and thanks everyone for their support."

U.S. artistic swimming director Adam Andresco added: "Anita is a formidable competitor and we could not have been more proud of her. Too bad she will not have the opportunity to compete in her last event in the competition, but she will return to the pool soon and be inspired again."

The Israeli team, as mentioned, finished in tenth place with 85.5667 points, while the Chinese team won gold with 96.7 points.

Ukraine won the money with 95 points and Bard won the Japanese with 93.1333 points.
