Eintracht Frankfurt sign Alario from Bayer Leverkusen

Eintracht Frankfurt continues to strengthen its offensive.

The Europa League winner announced Lucas Alario's commitment.

The 29-year-old comes from Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

The Argentine center forward signed a contract until 2025. According to media reports, the transfer fee should be up to 6.5 million euros.

On Tuesday, Eintracht had already signed former German world champion Mario Götze from PSV Eindhoven.

Wayne Rooney resigns at Derby County

Wayne Rooney is quitting his job as team manager at second-division side Derby County.

As the insolvent club announced, the 36-year-old informed the club that he would like to be relieved of his coaching duties with immediate effect.

Rooney had taken over as coach at Derby 2020 and had a year left on his contract.

The traditional club is facing its first third division season in 36 years.

Due to the financial difficulties, the two-time English champions (1972 and 1975) had 21 points deducted during the past season, which practically sealed their sporting end in the second division.

Next signing at Manchester City is imminent

Manchester City are reportedly close to signing England international Kalvin Phillips.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder is said to be under contract with Leeds United until the end of June 2024.

According to reports, Manchester City wants to transfer the equivalent of around 49 million euros, plus possible bonus payments of 3.5 million euros.

In return, 18-year-old Darko Gyabi will move from City to Leeds United, it said.

Gladbach continues to hope for Sommer and Hofmann

After the first transfer of the season with Oscar Fraulo, Borussia Mönchengladbach's sporting director Roland Virkus is considering extending the contract with Jonas Hofmann.

»For me, Jonas is the ultimate personality.

Of course there is a desire to hold him.

As with Yann Sommer, we made an agreement with Jonas: After the international matches you will go on vacation, then we will sit down and look for a solution – at best we will both stay together in the long term,” Virkus told the “Rheinische Post”.
