Itamar Inhorn and Omar Shapira won the Israeli championship in road cycling, which took place this morning (Saturday) in the Golan Heights.
For Shapira, this is the sixth consecutive championship, and she won it by a considerable margin, after a single escape throughout most of the 95-kilometer race. She overtook Rotem Gafinowitz and Lian Vitkin.
Inhorn won the first title for him in the seniors after a tumultuous race dominated by the Israel Premier Tech team.
Omar Goldstein and Guy Niv led along long sections of the ride, but in the sixth lap out of seven they were caught by Guy Sagiv and Inhorn.
In the last lap, Inhorn fell down a ruby forest but quickly got on his bike and caught up with his teammates.
In the final sprint, Inhorn crossed first before Sagiv and Goldstein after 133.7 km.
About 300 male and female riders participated in the championship, and the competition was organized by the Bicycle Association in cooperation with the Golan Regional Council.
