Three years ago, Syrian Muay Thai player Alaa Abu Jaish set his sights on winning bright medals in this ancient Thai sport. He achieved the required, but the ambition did not stop.

It seems that Abu Jaish, 21, won the bronze in the world championships in the 71 kg competitions recently, is the most prominent achievement in his career, which did not exceed a few years so far, as he managed during this global event to prove his worth in competing at the global level in this sport.

In a statement to SANA, Abu Jaish said: “I have played many tournaments during my career in the game, and I have spared no effort during the preparation period for these tournaments, because this game requires more focus and specific skill levels, and as a result of the intensive training I reached a good level that enabled me to win many titles, most notably the title The International Elite Championship in Iraq, in addition to the title of the Emirates Championship, and I aspire to win more titles.”

Regarding his winning of the bronze in the World Championship held in Abu Dhabi earlier this month, Abu Jaish said that preparation for this tournament lasted for two months, with two intensive training sessions within a special physical preparation program for the game by international Thai coaches and under the supervision of the coach of the Syrian Muay Thai team, Yasser Abu Jaish.

Abu Jaish continued, “During my journey to compete in the World Championship, I qualified from the preliminary rounds to the quarter-finals by lottery, during which I faced the Libyan player and won the three rounds and qualified for the semi-finals, during which I played with the French national team player, and my confrontation with him was strong during the three rounds, which ended by a point difference in his favour.”

Alaa Abu Jaish is continuing his training in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi within the Muay Thai team in preparation for the upcoming tournaments, where he expressed his readiness to represent the Syrian team in the upcoming events and raise the flag of the homeland high in foreign forums.
