With the participation of Syria, the Mediterranean Games in its nineteenth edition will open this evening at Miloud Hadfi Olympic Stadium in the Algerian city of Oran, which will continue until the 6th of next July.

More than 5,000 people, including 3,390 male and female athletes from 26 countries, will participate in the tournament, which is the second number in the history of the tournaments after the Spanish Tarragona Games in 2018, in which 3,648 male and female athletes participated. Tarragona tournament, which included 26 games.

The Mediterranean Village was opened yesterday in Oran, the second largest city in Algeria after Algiers, to host the sports wedding, which includes stadiums, halls, accommodation and food for the participating delegations.

Syria is present in the Oran tournament with elite champions in seven games: boxing, weightlifting, wrestling, equestrian, athletics, gymnastics and judo.

Our Olympic champion Maan Asaad, who started his training under the supervision of his coach Qais Asaad, said, “He came here to achieve a specific goal, which is to raise the national flag, and nothing will deter him from achieving that,” stressing that he is well prepared and knows his competitors well and will spare no effort in achieving what he came for, which is what His coach, Qais Asaad, confirmed it, despite talking about some difficulties that limit the implementation of the specific training program, especially the problem of the lack of a suitable hall.

Our national boxing team coach, Hussein Ghosoun, said: “We only think about winning and we work with all our strength and determination to get our champions to the podiums.” Our boxers or vice versa, pointing out at the same time that the boxing team came directly to Oran from Russia after conducting a long camp in preparation for this great merit.
