The World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary, ended this morning (Saturday) with a new Israeli record in the women's 4x100m medley.
The team included Anastasia Gurbanko, Aviv Barzali, Leah Polonsky and Daria Golovti, finishing their ointment in a great time of 4: 03.28 minutes, which is a new Israeli record, an improvement of 3.9 seconds from the previous record, achieved at the 2018 European Championships in the UK.
This result, placed them in ninth place overall, just 1.83 seconds from the place leading to the final, where the French quartet finished.
In doing so, Israel surpassed its participation in the World Swimming Championships, with a single final by Gurbanko in the 200m medley, which it finished in fifth place - the highest to date, a record number of 10 semi-finals and five new Israeli records.
In July, there will be Maccabiah competitions in which each swimmer in the team will compete at least once, and a week later they will also participate in the Israeli Championships, as a final preparation for the European Championships in early August in Rome.
