Frankfurt/Kronberg - On Thursday (May 23), Martin Hinteregger surprisingly announced the end of his professional career at the age of 29.

The Eintracht Frankfurt defender told "Eintracht-TV" that he had been toying with the idea since the fall and knew at the latest after the prestigious semi-final victory over FC Barcelona that it was time for a new chapter in his life.

It is now also known what it should look like.

"Hinti" will not hang up his football boots despite the professional end.

As the

, the Austrian will lace up his shoes for his home club SGA Sirnitz again in the future - and in a new role.

New role for "Hinti": Does Carinthia have a new top scorer?

While it was the Bundesliga club and future Champions League participant Eintracht Frankfurt Hinteregger's core task to prevent goals, he will now go hunting for goals at his old place of work.

It remains to be seen whether the ex-eagle can assert himself with his new tasks in the fifth Austrian league.

In any case, he is welcomed with open arms in his home country of Carinthia.

"We are delighted that he is returning home after 17 years," Hinteregger's father Franz told the

Kronen Zeitung

.

The family man Hinteregger will be just as happy to get back to his roots.

Especially since he will also work together with father Franz in Sirnitz on a sporting level.

Papa Hinteregger acts as youth manager for the fifth division team.

From the soccer field to gastronomy: Hinteregger opens a restaurant in Kronberg

A new role is also waiting for Martin Hinteregger off the field: just one day after the announcement of the end of his career, the Austrian opened his new restaurant "Adler".

As early as February, the footballer announced that he wanted to breathe new life into the traditional house in Kronberg (Hochtaunuskreis).

Together with TV presenter Marcel Wagner and restaurateur Sebastian Fink, "Hinti" is dedicated to the new heart project.

"I grew up in an inn because my mother was a waitress," Hinteregger told the press at the opening ceremony of the "Adler" on Friday evening (June 24).

"I wanted to do something like that at some point," Hinti continues.

According to his own statement, the idea of his own restaurant came to him when he was 20, and then a year and a half ago to realize it in the Rhine-Main region.

"I feel so comfortable here, it's my second home.

I'll be here every two weeks," announces the ex-Eintracht professional.
