The 86th Israeli Athletics Championships opened today (Sunday) at the renovated athletics stadium in Givat Ram, which underwent renovations last year at a cost of NIS 55 million, with new stands and roofs, a new track and lighting, all in preparation for the European Under-18 Championships next month.
The fastest woman in Israel is Diana Weissman, who already in the semifinals broke the Israeli record with 11.22 seconds, while in the final itself, she was satisfied with 11.28 seconds, not before entering the photographers when she tried to stop at the end.

Tomorrow on the second day of the championship, the two will try to win a double in the double distance run.
One of the interesting focal points of the evening was the men's high jump, where they won a triple battle, with Israeli champion Yonatan Kapitolnik, who passed 2.27 meters, and tried to raise the bar to 2.31 meters, to set a new personal record, but failed in all three attempts. Nicki Pali arrived with a comeback of 2.10 meters and third Dima Kreuter who achieved only 2 meters.
Another focus of the evening was the triple jump pit, where Hannah Minenko settled for 14.15 meters, while in the men's, Uri Arnon won the national title with 15.09 meters.
