The fifth acquisition of Oded Katash.

This morning (Monday), Maccabi Tel Aviv signed guard-forward Austin Hollins (1.93 m, 30) for two years, who arrives next to Eliyahu with three seasons of experience in the Euroleague and after winning a treble with the Red Star Belgrade.

"I'm excited about the vision of the coach and the entire organization," Austin Hollins admitted after the signing.

"I can no longer wait to take part in the history and tradition of the club."

"We are very happy to add Austin Hollins to the squad. This is a guard with a good character, a good friend of the players next to him in the locker room, an excellent guard and a player who can play in several positions," explained coach Oded Katash.

"He can give us solutions for a variety of situations and vehicles on the field."

Austin Hollins was born in Arizona on November 8, 1991 and as a child the family moved to Tennessee.

His father Lionel Hollins was an NBA champion with Portland, once selected to the All-Star, played on several teams, went on to coach and also picked up the title as assistant coach to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The son began starring on the high school team, attracted attention from a number of leading colleges and eventually joined the University of Minnesota team.

He played four seasons and in his final year in the college league was named the Outstanding Player at NIT, but was not selected in the 2014 NBA Draft.

The American swingman began his professional career in a team from the second division in France.

From there he moved to Finland and also reached Germany, where in his second team he averaged 12.5 points and 2.7 rebounds and also won the title of King of the Rings.

The next leap came in the summer of 2019.

In July of that year Austin Hollins was signed by Zenit St Petersburg, who joined the Euroleague.

He fitted in well and provided 10.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 22.8 minutes on average per game at the top European factory.

He went on to a second season with the Russian team, which raced to the playoffs in Europe, and last summer signed with the Red Star.

Last season in Belgrade Austin Hollins won three titles - the Serbian Championship, the Serbian Cup and the Adriatic League Championship.

In the domestic league he provided 8.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals per night, while in the Euroleague he contributed 8.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and an average steal per game.
