Baumgart will stay in Cologne until 2024

1. FC Köln has prematurely extended the contract with coach Steffen Baumgart by another year until June 30, 2024.

This was announced by the European Cup participants on Monday.

'We've been on good terms for a long time.

But we deliberately waited until everyone was there.

It's important that we not only had success, but also had fun," said Baumgart: "I'm sure the project isn't over yet."

Managing Director Christian Keller said: "Even if the news was expected, it remains very positive.

Everyone was happy.

All the players and all the employees, because Steffen was one of the key people who made sure FC played such attractive football.”

Baumgart came to Cologne from the second division club SC Paderborn in the summer of 2021.

Other clubs such as FC Schalke 04, Hamburger SV and Hannover 96 were also interested in him at the time.

The 50-year-old led the FC, which had only just been saved in the relegation, with impressive football to the Conference League.

The extension of the contract had been in the offing for a long time, and both sides had made public statements to that effect.

Gabriel Jesus ahead of Arsenal move

Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus is on the verge of leaving after five and a half years at Manchester City.

According to British media reports, the 25-year-old will play for Arsenal in the future.

The Londoners should transfer the equivalent of around 52.3 million euros for the international, Jesus should get a contract with a term of five years.

After "The Athletic" first reported on it, "The Guardian" wrote on Monday that Jesus had also agreed the personal terms with Arsenal FC.

One reason for his move is said to be the arrival of Erling Haaland at Manchester City, which would further reduce Jesus' chances of being used.

Botman before moving to Newcastle

Dutch Under-21 international Sven Botman is set to move to the Premier League.

According to reports in the English media, Newcastle United are said to be ready to transfer a base fee of almost 40 million euros to Botman's club OSC Lille.

The centre-back was trained by Ajax Amsterdam when he was young and had moved to Ligue 1 in the summer of 2020.

Second division Hamburger SV is about to sign a striker: Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer from Dynamo Dresden is said to come from the relegated team for one million euros.

The 20-year-old's medical check-up is expected early in the week.
