Valencian Arón Canet, one of the candidates for the Moto2 title and fourth in the World Championship now that the summer holidays are here, has had a real nightmare month of June.

The ordeal of the 22-year-old driver, a native of Corbera, began on the 11th when he suffered a traffic accident with his partner while they were going to Alzira to pick up a cake in a high-end car.

It was not a minor scare, and it is that the pilot himself told, during the German GP, how he saw himself with his eyebrow touching his eyelid, his nose broken and his face shattered.

When the Samur arrived at the scene, Canet was unconscious after having fainted.

The vehicle had split in two after hitting a side wall of the road.

“I get anxious thinking about it.

It's something I don't like to talk about because it's a really traumatic experience.

I almost lost my life”, Canet was honest to the DAZN microphones.

Although he was able to race at the Sachsenring, finishing in ninth place, the Pons Racing driver has been dealing with severe pain and bleeding from his nose all this time.

In Assen last weekend, the problems were so great that he was forced to withdraw from the test on Saturday, after visiting a clinic to perform a cauterization and try to stop the bleeding, something that the doctors failed to do.

“Instead of improving it they have spoiled it more, because they were touching the nose a lot.

It is the greatest pain I have ever felt in my life, I almost fainted”, he said after the intervention in the Netherlands.

Canet, a singular and recognizable guy in the

paddock

for his naturalness and self-confidence –also for the visible tattoos that cover his entire body–, put himself back in professional hands this Monday at the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona to find a definitive solution and stop your bleeding problems once and for all.

The operation, as reported by his team in a statement on Tuesday, was a success and the pilot will now begin a two-week recovery process.

Social networks, the worst part

The young Valencian pilot, in the hours after the scare, was overwhelmed by critical messages on social networks, specifically on Twitter.

He decided to close his account and then explained his reasons and his disappointment with the matter: “Many critics of the sofa and crowded with the Civil Guard on Twitter.

I don't get paid to put up with X people, so I got off Twitter.

It subtracts a lot and contributes little”.

Canet's girlfriend, who was uninjured in the crash, was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The pilot was upset, among other things, when people assumed that he was behind the wheel.

The young man from Corbera explained that the reason for the accident was a change of mode in the car's console and a possible confusion by inadvertently disconnecting the traction control.

“I guess I would press it, it came out in the pilot's command center and I didn't see it.

We were calm, he opened the throttle and when he did he went out of the curve, he skidded and with such bad luck that there was a wall, ”he explained.

According to the newspaper

Las Provincias

, the police report confirms that the vehicle was traveling within the established speed limit and the young woman had not consumed any prohibited substance.

With the six-week summer break, Canet hopes to have time to recover and put the ordeal of recent weeks behind him.

The Moto3 world runner-up in 2019 is still elusive for victory in the intermediate category, where he has achieved six second positions since his debut in 2020, four of them this season.

Despite the zero in Assen and the bad harvest in Germany after the drop in his yield, only 30 points separate him from the co-leaders of the contest, the Italian Celestino Vietti and the Madrilenian Augusto Fernández.
