In 2015, Raheem Sterling left Liverpool for Manchester City because, he said, he wanted to play for a team that could go far.
So City paid £ 49million, the move was complete, and the English striker certainly flourished in the new home, scoring and picking up titles.
Now, seven years later, Sterling, who is in his last contract season at City, is already thinking about the next target, this time out of concern for the amount of minutes he will have next season, mainly due to Arling Holland joining the English champions.
"Sterling wants to play a key role in his next team, and this should be a team fighting for titles," commentators in the kingdom explained, and indeed there are already some who are jumping on the bargain.
The resurgent Chelsea, under Todd Bohlie, who runs the team as a representative of the new buyer group, are willing to pay a lot of money to make Sterling its first major and significant acquisition under Bohlie.
She has not yet made an official offer, but has already approached the actor and quietly turned to City to find out the feasibility of the move soon.
The 27-year-old Sterling has scored 131 goals in 339 appearances in azure uniform, and could fill the void left by Romulo Lukaku, who after just one season left back, on loan, to Inter.
