Champions Cup: South African clubs on the menu in Clermont, Bordeaux-Bègles and Lyon

The draw for the most beautiful of the European Cups was made on Tuesday. Clermont, Bordeaux-Bègles and Lyon will go to South Africa.


The draw for the group stage of the Champions Cup was carried out on Tuesday by the EPCR with, for the first time, the integration of South African clubs.

Reigning European champions, the Rochelais have been transferred to Pool B where they will face Ulster and Northampton Saints.

In the same group, the French champions of Montpellier will struggle with the London Irish and the Ospreys.

Clermont will have a hard time facing the Leicester Tigers, Premiership champions, and the South African Stormers (Cape Town), winners of the United Rugby Championship.

Stade Toulousain will have to defeat Sale Sharks and Munster.

In Pool A, Racing inherited big chunks with Leinster and Harlequins.

Gloucester and the Durban Sharks will be on the Bordeaux-Bègles menu.

Castres will face Exeter and Edinburgh.

Finally, Lyon will play Saracens and the Pretoria Bulls.
