Dog interrupts international match – because he wants to be petted

In Chile, a dog ran through the stadium and could only be stopped by being petted.

There was an unusual interruption in the women's international match between Chile and Venezuela when a loving dog came for a pat in the middle of the game.
Curicó - Almost every FC Bayern fan knows the legendary scene from 1976: Goalkeeper Sepp Maier dives after a wild duck that had made himself comfortable in the penalty area of the Olympic Stadium.
In October 2015, an owl in the Allianz Arena delayed the kick-off at a home game of TSV 1860 Munich.
But animal incidents are by far not only found in Munich, so there was a curious incident in Chile.

In mid-July, the women's national teams from South America will face the Copa America in Colombia.
Before that, the teams prepare for the continental tournament, mainly with friendlies.
In the friendly between the Chilean and Venezuelan teams, however, the game had to be interrupted for around two minutes.
The reason for this?
A dog that suddenly ran through the Estadio La Granja in Curicó.
In the 37th minute, the Chileans had just cleared an attempt to attack when all eyes suddenly turned to the hosts' goalkeeper.
Keeper Christiane Endler had a four-legged friend in front of her, who lay down on the lawn and calmly let her scratch her stomach.
Just a few seconds later, the dog ran to Brazilian referee Deborah Cecilia Correia, who couldn't help but pet the animal.

A first attempt by Chilean defender Yessenia López to catch the dog failed, instead the dog sprinted across the arena.
However, it was all over in front of the Chilean bench, because Javiera Toro from Sevilla FC grabbed the culprit who needed to be cuddled and handed him over to the stewards with a smile.

"We can't continue the game because this dog is simply harder to catch than the players on the field," was a statement from the press box.
In fact, the trapped dog was the only thing that could stop the defense, in the end Venezuela won 1-0.
The striker with the catchy name Mariana Speckmaier scored the goal of the day for "La Vinotinto" from the Icelandic first division club Valur.
