A few days after Sadio Mané's move to Bayern Munich, Lothar Matthäus complained about Hasan Salihamidzic - but not for sporting reasons, but for personal reasons.

Munich – Hasan Salihamidzic, who has often been criticized, was the decisive man in the past few weeks at Bayern.

The sports director bagged three newcomers, the highlight so far was the transfer of Sadio Mané.

The criticism of Brazzo suddenly became recognition for the signing of the Senegalese superstar.

Lothar Matthäus, who had criticized Salihamidzic's work often enough, agreed - albeit in a very peculiar way.

Lothar Matthäus

Born: March 21, 1961 in Erlangen

Competitive games for FC Bayern: 410 (100 goals, 50 assists)

Stations as a professional: Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Bayern, Inter Milan, MetroStars New York

Internationals: 150 (23 goals)

Lothar Matthäus demands a thank you from Brazzo for his "sincere appreciation"

In his column for

Sky

, the record national player goes into detail about Bayern's transfer to the king.

"Hasan Salihamidzic also deserves the praise that he has rightly received in the past few days for the signing of world star Sadio Mané," said Matthäus, who, despite the appreciation for his former teammate, still makes a claim.

Because Salihamidzic has "still not contacted me by phone to thank me for my sincere appreciation of this transfer," writes Matthäus, who apparently takes this for granted.

"I'm happy when he dials my number again," adds the 61-year-old.

Matthäus vs. Salihamidzic: FC Bayern sports director should "thank you for the praise"

But why should Brazzo thank you immediately for appreciative words?

The verbal feud between the club manager and the TV expert already has a long history, in which one or the other phone call was apparently made.

"When I rightly criticized him and his transfer policy or other decisions in the past few months, my phone rang regularly," Matthäus classifies his request.

Salihamidzic can now do this again and "thank you for the praise".

The Franconian even goes one step further and says: "It would be great if Hasan picked up the phone and not just when something didn't suit him".

Matthew praises Salihamidzic about the green clover - Mané deal "threaded excellently"

At the end, Matthew repeats the praise he mentioned at the beginning.

"Anyone who guides such an extraordinary football player like Mané to Säbener Straße and thus enriches the club and the Bundesliga deserves all the praise in the world," he says.

Salihamidzic and his team "threaded the change excellently," judged the columnist.

Matthäus and Salihamidzic have a common past that goes back a long way.

Between 1998 and 2000, the two were part of the FC Bayern professional squad for about a year and a half.

The two midfielders played together in 60 competitive games, winning two championships and one cup.

Today they face each other in a TV interview after the games.
