Rafael Nadal got off to a good start at Wimbledon by beating Francisco Cerúndolo 6-4, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 (in 3h 33m) in his debut at the British Grand Prix on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old Spaniard delivered a convincing performance against the Argentinian, responsive from start to finish, and discounted the first season en route to his 23rd Grand Slam title.
On Thursday, the Mallorcan will face the Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis (6-4, 7-5 and 6-3 at San Quwerrey) after a demanding staging and playing his first match on grass in almost three years.

Francis Roig, Nadal's coach: "Rafa is here to win"
The last time Nadal officially competed on grass was in 2019, when he lost in the London semifinals against Swiss Roger Federer.
Since then, the Spaniard had only been able to complete a couple of trials at the recent Hurlingham exhibition.
The 2020 edition was suspended and last year, the chronic injury to his left foot prevented him from competing in the English capital.
Back, Nadal – champion this year of the Australian Open and Roland Garros – appears as one of the great favorites.
He had to sweat against Cerúndolo, but he unlocked the duel and was reunited with the victory over the green.
