The French equaled, on Tuesday, the record of 62 consecutive participations in Grand Slam tournaments. She continues, moreover, her rout

A victory and a record.

Alizé Cornet, 32, qualified for the second round of Wimbledon on Tuesday by beating Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (33rd) in two sets (6-3, 7-6).

On the lawn of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Cornet took the opportunity to equal the record of 62 consecutive participations in Grand Slam tournaments, held by the Japanese Ai Sugiyama between 1994 and 2009. Only Roger Federer and Feliciano López have done better in just gentlemen.

Since the 2007 Australian Open, the Niçoise has not missed a single Major, apart from Wimbledon 2020 which had been canceled due to the Covid.

And we're happy to cerebrate Alize Cornet making history as the record of 62 consecutive Gland Slam with her win🫅

She keeps giving us many entertainment for more than fifteen years.

Thank you and feeling lucky to see the story!

In the next round, she will face the American Claire Liu (76th), who got rid of the Spaniard Nuria Parrizas-Diaz.

If the Frenchwoman passes the Liu obstacle, she should find on her way in the 3rd round the world No. 1, the Polish Iga Swiatek, victorious at Roland-Garros.

The 32-year-old Niçoise, who has won six singles titles (for eight lost finals), reached the round of 16 of the Major on grass in 2014 but since then she has not passed the third round.

His best Grand Slam result is a quarter-final, reached last January at the Australian Open.

She had also won at Roland-Garros in 2007, among the Juniors.
