6: 0 after 16 minutes: Angelique Kerber started the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament with little effort and a lot of dominance.

The second set against the Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic also went 7:5 to the two-time major winner from Germany, who is 15th on the seeding list at the prestigious tournament in the All England Club.

In round two, Kerber now meets Magda Linette from Poland.

Otte without baggage to victory

Oscar Otte also made it through to the second round in a hurry: In the German duel with Peter Gojowczyk, Otte, who had reached the semi-finals of the grass tournaments in Stuttgart and Halle, confidently won 6:1, 6:2, 6:1 .

The game in which Otte underlined why he was the number one German tennis player in the absence of the injured Alexander Zverev lasted only 77 minutes.

Otte had to do without large parts of his equipment: A tennis bag with shoes and strings has been missing since the flight to London.

"Fortunately, I said to myself the night before: I'd better take the clubs in my hand luggage," said Otte.

"That was important because I probably wouldn't have gotten my hands on clubs that quickly." Otte's next opponent will be decided on Tuesday between Briton Jay Clarke and American Christian Harrison, whose game was interrupted when Harrison led in two sets.

Maria, Altmaier and Korpatsch have detention

Due to the delays caused by rain on Monday, other games could not be completed before nightfall.

Daniel Altmaier is already 3:6, 5:7 behind the Swede Mikael Ymer, Tatjana Maria still has every chance of moving into the second round with an intermediate score of 4:6, 6:3.

Everything is still open for Tatjana Korpatsch (7: 6 (9: 7), 5: 7 against the British Heather Watson.

While Julie Niemeier and Maximilian Marterer won their opening matches, Jan-Lennard Struff missed a big surprise in a gripping five-set match against Spanish shooting star Carlos Alcaraz.

Alcaraz's compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who defeated last year's semi-finalist and co-favorite Hubert Hurkacz, succeeded in doing so.
