In Aussonne, a town about 20km from Toulouse, La Dépêche du Midi reveals that nearly 1,500 young people are deprived of a tournament because of the presence of caravans belonging to travelers, present on the sports complex.
The tournament was to be played on the weekend of July 2 and 3, bringing together nearly 50 clubs and ranging from the U6 to U17 categories.
The Aussonne football club published a press release on its Facebook account to announce the news: "The
he Etoile Aussonnaise Football Steering Committee, after consultation with the municipality of Aussonne, regrets to inform you of the cancellation of the tournament scheduled for July 2 and 3, 2022. Our facilities are still invaded by many caravans despite all the efforts made by the municipal services to put an end to this savage occupation.
A negotiated agreement had given us hope of a quick departure for some occupants and a change of location for others, but unfortunately it has not been respected to date.
We are therefore not very confident that the situation will improve significantly, not to mention that it will take several days to restore the occupied football pitches.
