SC Oberweikertshofen has landed a real top-class player in former professional striker Dominik Widemann.

Oberweikertshofen – Last Sunday, the 25-year-old, together with his brother Sascha, coach of the Puchheim district league women, and girlfriend Hanna followed the SCO test match against Türkgücü to take a close look at his new teammates.

"We consider ourselves lucky to have made such a good transfer," said the SCO's sporting director, Uli Bergmann.

"In addition, Dominik is a player from the region who was already on the ball at a higher level.

That quite simply raises the quality in the team again.”

Dominik's brother Sascha Widemann also had a large part in the transfer.

"I remember him from my Wildenroth days," says Bergmann.

"But we also had the feeling that Dominik and his girlfriend Hanna felt right at home in Oberweikertshofen." Nevertheless, one thing is clear: the club can only handle a transfer like this with the help of local companies and private individuals who have been supporting the SCO for years .

Widemann took his first steps at TSV Moorenweis

Dominik Widemann spent his first years as a footballer at TSV Moorenweis and SC Fürstenfeldbruck.

But as a junior, the talent switched to SpVgg Unterhaching.

Then it went straight to the 2nd Bundesliga at FC Heidenheim.

At that time, his market value also jumped to the highest sum of 300,000 euros.

After three years in Heidenheim, Widemann returned to Unterhaching, only to switch to the third division of the Kickers in Würzburg just one season later.

A season at SG Sonnenhof Großaspach in the Regionalliga Südwest followed.

Most recently, Widemann wore the jersey for TSV Rain, where the contract of the 1.80 meter tall striker expires on June 30th.

Going back from professional football to amateur football isn't a problem for him. "I'm studying sports management for the time being, and meanwhile I'm living with my parents in Grunertshofen, so the SCO suits me well in terms of distance," says Dominik Widemann.

The talks with coach Dominik Sammer and Bergmann convinced him.

"Of course, when you've played at a higher level, you want to help the team to progress.

I want to support the team to achieve their goals." (Dieter Metzler)
