Salma Paralluelo misses Euro 2022 due to injury and Teresa Abelleira replaces her

Salma Paralluelo has left this Wednesday the concentration of the Spanish team in Madrid due to a soleus injury that will deprive her of participating in the Women's Euro Cup that begins on July 6 in England.

The 18-year-old Villarreal attacker had been in cotton wool for a week due to an edema in her calf that was preventing her from training with her teammates.

Concerned about the evolution of the striker, the team's doctors carried out new diagnostic tests this morning at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas and found a masked myofascial injury in the soleus muscle of the left leg.

Thus, Paralluelo, who has not yet made his debut with the senior team and had been the great novelty in Jorge Vilda's call for the European Championship, will not travel to Italy —where Spain will finalize his preparation this Friday— nor will he be part of the team at the big event from England.

Until now, the young winger from Zaragoza had limited herself to working in the gym and had only been able to participate in five of the 12 training sessions that the rest of her teammates had completed on the pitch.

Substitute of guarantees

Minutes after Paralluelo's final withdrawal was known, the Spanish team has reported through its website that Teresa Abelleira, Real Madrid midfielder, will replace the Villarreal attacker in the European Championship.

The 22-year-old Galician soccer player has been an absolute international twice and was already part of the 28 chosen for the preparation phase for the continental event, but it was one of the discards that Jorge Vilda announced last Monday, when he had to reduce the list to 23 footballers.

Now, Abelleira returns to the group due to Paralluelo's absence and will join the delegation this afternoon to travel to Italy, where Spain will face the transalpine team this Friday before traveling to England, where he will debut on July 8 against Finland.
