"Appreciation measured by salary": Felix Neureuther full of incomprehension for Lewandowski

Ex-ski racer Felix Neureuther is one of the best-known supporters of FC Bayern.

In a talk show he expressed his point of view on the subject of Robert Lewandowski.

Munich – Robert Lewandowski has been dealing with a transfer abroad since the end of the season.

The top scorer would like to move to Barcelona this summer, but the club bosses are insisting on the contract with the Pole, which is valid until the summer of 2023.

Former winter athlete Felix Neureuther is a fervent FC Bayern fan and therefore recently got involved in the debate about Lewandowski's possible farewell.

The ex-ski racer, who has a special relationship with FCB club icon Bastian Schweinsteiger, sharply criticized Lewandowski in his role as a supporter of the record champions.

In the discussion round "Sport and Talk from the Hangar-7" on the Austrian broadcaster ServusTV, Neureuther hardly held back and made a harsh judgment about today's generation of players.

"Where did we get to?" Neureuther began his angry speech on the show.

The main argument of the father of three: the hunt for a lot of money is not conducive to sport and athletes.

“The appreciation of a football player is measured today by the salary.

It's actually about so much more in sport, and not whether I earn 24 million a year or 26 million," said the 38-year-old.

In his opinion, it should not be primarily about monetary issues.

Neureuther full of incomprehension towards Lewandowski: "Something like that no longer exists"

Neureuther sees the main problem in the basic attitude of today's football professionals.

“The guys started the sport once for some reason.

I have to remember that I love this sport," said the native of Munich and soberly stated: "Something like that doesn't exist anymore."

Last August, Neureuther was at the FC Bayern team presentation for Bayerischer Rundfunk and even interviewed Julian Nagelsmann.

This year, the season opener will take place on June 16 in front of fans in the Allianz Arena.

Whether this takes place with or without Robert Lewandowski will be decided in the coming weeks.

FC Bayern has just rejected an offer from Catalonia, but a change could still come about.

For this, however, Munich would have to find a suitable successor and collect a correspondingly high transfer fee.
