Lothar Matthäus makes serious allegations against Bayern bosses Kahn and Salihamidzic.

With Hoeneß and Rummenigge there would have been less trouble for Lewandowski and Gnabry.

Munich – Lothar Matthäus criticizes FC Bayern in dealing with Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry.

Both contracts expire in summer 2023.

The exchange poker around Lewandowski has been depressing the mood on Säbener Straße for a long time.

The record champions have not yet been able to agree on a contract extension with Gnabry – in the worst case, there is a risk of a free transfer.

Matthäus chalks up the open construction sites at FC Bayern Munich to the current management team around CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic.

The record national player and former Bayern captain even thinks that such a chaos of changes under the former bosses Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge would not have existed.

Matthäus angry about Lewandowski poker: "Wouldn't have existed under Hoeneß and Rummenigge"

"I don't know whether these issues would have existed under the leadership of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß.

You managed the club differently than Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn," writes Matthäus in his Sky column, aiming at the unclear contractual situation at Lewandowski and Gnabry.

The 61-year-old had warned Bayern months ago not to wait too long with contract talks.

Lewandowski now wants to leave the club and switch to FC Barcelona immediately.

Gnabry apparently misses a certain appreciation and hesitates to sign a highly paid contract offer – Manchester United is said to be tempting.

Matthäus misses the line at FC Bayern: with Lewandowski, with Gnabry

With the transfer of Sadio Mané, the Bayern bosses put additional pressure on Gnabry.

“Everyone rightly cheers about the Mané transfer.

Whether Serge Gnabry is happy is rather questionable.

I wouldn't find this deal ideal if I were him," said Matthäus, who recently dealt against Brazzo because of Mané.

His advisors, of all people, made sure that a competitor was put in front of him.

When dealing with the personal details of Lewandowski and Gnabry, Matthäus accuses the Munich team of double standards.

"With Gnabry, FC Bayern is of the opinion that they may have to part ways if this offer is not enough for them.

Like Robert Lewandowski, he also has another year on his contract,” writes Matthäus.

Bayern want to sell Gnabry, who is threatened with the grandstand if he stays, this summer if the Swabian does not accept the contract offer.

On the other hand, the bosses deny Lewandowski an early move to Barcelona.

Matthäus accuses FC Bayern of double standards in the Lewandowski Theater

“With Lewandowski, however, the club acts differently.

Here the player brings in a club that is willing to pay a fee, but they don't let him go.

You have to be careful when you accuse one or the other of a lack of morals, but also act as a club in accordance with your own interests,” teases Matthäus.

However, Bayern were not yet satisfied with the fee offered, but Barcelona should now send a final offer for Lewandowski to Munich.

“Of course, the worst thing would be if both Gnabry and Lewandowski went on a free transfer next year.

And that is absolutely within the realm of possibility,” warns Matthäus.
