The law banning violence in sports that passed yesterday in the Knesset includes a number of significant enforcement measures, and now the fight against racism is taking another step • MK Eitan Ginzburg, initiator of the amendment: "We will no longer accept a reality in which sexual orientation becomes a curse"

The law banning sports violence promoted by Minister Hili Trooper in recent months was finally approved yesterday (Thursday) in the Knesset, and includes several significant steps that will lead to the promotion of the fight against violence in stadiums and stadiums, centered on enforcement and punishment targeted at rioting and violent fans in real time.

The law accepted MK Eitan Ginzburg's proposal (blue and white) to amend the section relating to racist chants, so that for the first time the law will ban violent chants against lesbians, gays, transgender people and bisexuals and be considered a criminal offense: according to the existing section in the law, During a sporting event, he is sentenced to two years in prison.

"Racist utterance" has so far been defined as a call that contains a threat, humiliation, contempt, manifestation of hostility, hostility, or violence against a person or public, due to color or affiliation with race, religion or national-ethnic origin, and now at MK Ginzburg's request Due to sexual orientation.

This is a very significant amendment, as there has not yet been an explicit anchoring in the legislation that prohibits derogatory calls against the background of sexual orientation.

The new amendment imposes personal, criminal responsibility on those who use these calls, and if enforced, is expected to be significantly reduced.
