The latter defeated the great American server John Isner (24th) 6-4, 7-6 (7/4), 6-3.
Alcaraz like Sinner are participating in their second Wimbledon tournament: the Spaniard was eliminated in the second round last year and the Italian in the first.
Alcaraz, who has become phenomenal this season, had left a lot of strength in the first round to eliminate Jan-Lennard Struff (155th) 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7/3), 6-4 , but he then clearly dominated the Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor (53rd) 6-4, 7-6 (7/0), 6-3.
And on Friday, he didn't leave much energy either on his way to becoming at 19 the youngest player to reach the knockout stages at Wimbledon, since Bernard Tomic who was 18 in 2011.
For his part, Sinner (20), reached the round of 16 for the fourth Major in a row.
His victories over Stan Wawrinka in the first round and Mikael Ymer in the second were his first ever wins on grass.
