Anyone who thought playing starring Nick Kirius could end up without special incidents does not know Nick Kirius.
This time the Australian met in the third round at Wimbledon a problematic opponent in his own right - the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas - and in fact it was the latter’s behavior that led his opponent to tell the referee of the chair that he was “ashamed”.
After winning 4-6 in the second set and equalizing 1-1 in the game, Kirius called on the referee to disqualify Tsitsipas as the Greek angrily slammed a ball towards the stands.
When the referee refused his demand, the world-ranked 40th demanded that the inspectors go down to the field and refused to come back up to play until Tsitsipas was thrown out of the tournament.
"Is this a disqualification or what? He just hit the ball on the food crowd --- Are you stupid?", Kirius attacked the referee.
"So you are allowed to throw a ball into the stands, meet someone and not be disqualified? Are you stupid? You are ashamed. You change the rules whenever you feel like it. Call the supervisors here. I will not play until we resolve this matter."
Tsitsipas received a warning for his behavior, but later the frustration led him to another angry hit on the ball, and then he was punished with a point reduction.

Kirius got entangled in the first round of the tournament when he spat at one of the spectators in the game against Paul Jab.
Even before the incident in question in today's game, the Australian was annoyed at the call of the line judge in a 5: 5 situation in the first set.
"Bring a new judge," Halin told the judge, "dude, you're supposed to make the right decision no? You're just saying 'sorry' and everything's fine? Why don't you bring in a new judge? He has one line to rule on."
Tsitsipas remained calm as long as his situation on the scoreboard was not complicated, but in the third act he too lost his composure and the referee had to call the two to try and calm the spirits, with each of the players claiming discrimination.
