Ligue 1: agreement between Tudor and Marseille

The Croatian technician, free since leaving Hellas Verona, has reached an agreement with OM on the basis of a two-year contract.

His appointment had been awaited for several hours.

It should be official this Sunday.

Unsurprisingly, Igor Tudor, given priority by Pablo Longoria to succeed Jorge Sampaoli, will indeed be OM's new coach.

The 44-year-old Croatian quickly appeared in the mind of the Marseille president as the right man to take over from the fiery Argentinian technician.

As revealed last night, he will commit for two years.

The contacts between the two men are long before the startling departure of the "Pelado", ratified this Friday due, in particular, to a deep disagreement in terms of recruitment.

For a fortnight, Longoria, feeling a bad wind coming, had begun to probe the coach market.

Well informed about Calcio, where he worked and kept many stints, he was well aware of the situation of Tudor, free of any contract, after leaving Hellas Verona last May.

Partner of Didier Deschamps and Zinédine Zidane at Juventus Turin, this former international (55 caps) led several teams: Hajduk Split, PAOK Salonika in Greece, Karabukspor and Galatasaray in Turkey, before joining Italy.

Passed by Udinese, then assistant to Andrea Pirlo in charge of defense at Juventus during the 2020-2021 season, he led Hellas Verona to 9th place in Serie A in the spring of 2022.
